Featured Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight king Frankie Edgar decisively won his rematch versus former champ BJ Penn in Saturday's main event feature at TD Garden in Boston. Before a packed house of over 15,000 UFC enthusiasts in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) league debut in the state of Massachusetts, Edgar won a unanimous decision over Penn, who he defeated for the belt at UFC 112, where he was again sponsored by MicroTech in one of the biggest upsets of the year in the sports world.

The other MicroTech sponsored combatant - UFC Legend Randy Couture - easily won his co-main event bout against boxing champion James "Lights Out" Toney. The current star of the action movie The Expendables, Couture quickly went in for the takedown, and his relentless pressure against the former boxer was too much, forcing a tap-out submission in the first round.

Edgar's record improves to 13 - 1; Couture is 19 - 10 in a long and notable UFC career. MicroTech has sponsored a number of UFC stars over the last few years, including their virtual likeness in the best selling UFC Undisputed video game series.

MicroTech CEO Testifies Before Congress on Acquisition Deficiencies at VA

MicroTech CEO Tony Jimenez testified today on Capitol Hill, before the House Committee on Veterans Affairs; Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, about  contract procurement issues at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

In his testimony as a military veteran and owner of the No. 1 Information Technology
8(a) business in the Nation, Tony Jimenez spoke of MicroTech's positive experience contracting with the VA, commented on the recent VA rule offering additional special preference to Veteran-Owned Business, and made recommendations on ways to improve the process. Tony has testified multiple times before Congress, offering his insights on set-aside programs as a Federal contractor, the last time in April.

On the topic of enforcing Veteran-Owned Business eligibility rules, Tony stated in the Congressional record, "Take the handcuffs off the Small Business Administration (SBA) and allow them to rigidly enforce eligibility. The GAO recommended that the SBA work to develop penalties that would prohibit companies from obtaining Federal work if they...knowingly misrepresent their status as a Veteran-Owned Small Business. Last week's new VA rule seems to address the potential fraud issues at the agency. ...Vendors could get away with self-certifying the accuracy of their information. Now as part of the VetBiz application process, VA officials must step in and verify eligibility."

In introducing MicroTech as the No. 3 ranked business, the Washington Business Journal had this to say: “So, what is it about this 5-year-old information technology company that wins it so much praise? The fact that it employs tech engineers who are officially certified by Microsoft Corp., Symantec Corp. and Adobe Systems Inc. probably helps.”

To make the list, companies must have had substantial revenue growth over a three-year period. MicroTech averaged annual sales growth of over 201% to make the Top Five.
